and Out
Natures
serves Brother Joe Barrish as a source of information
and inspiration; he sees the world as ". . . charged
with the grandeur of God which ". . . leaps leaps out
like shining from shook foil."
Brother Joe works in watercolor and acrylics, multimedia
collage, and stained glass. He is a printmaker as well.
He produces relief prints and serigraphs. Having his own
etching press for intaglio and calligraphic techniques,
he explores other print media.
"My work has been displayed at the IBM Gallery in New
York City at the Circulating Gallery at the Dayton Art
Institute and in the Sentanta Gallery in Dublin,
Ireland, among other galleries both local and national,"
comments Brother Joe. "I have taught on every level
including grade school and high school; I was an
associate professor in the Fine Arts Department at the
University of Dayton for twenty years."
Brother Barrish is interested in liturgical design and
has designed church interiors both here and abroad. "I
like to offer my services to others, especially to
individuals and communities which ordinarily cannot
afford a designer or artist."
