Donald
L. Smith, SM
Don is a
Marianist Brother, presently living at Mt. St. John,
4435 E. Patterson Road in Dayton, Ohio.
He is a potter,
specializing in Raku, an oriental form of glazing and
firing clay. It is a technique which uses a reduction
method, resulting in crackled glazes with luster
finishes.
Don has
been practicing this art for almost 25 years. He spent
most of his career in a variety of Marianist ministries,
high schools, retreat centers, and the University of
Dayton.
Don is now a full time professional artist. He
has completed commissioned work throughout the U.S. and
abroad and his work can be found in many private
collections.
